How Awelior would approach this project

Hollins Metalwork & Fabrication LLC is invented — the way it is built is not. None of this is work delivered for a client. It is the shape we would give such a project — with the same depth, but without a client who would have to answer for it.

Where it starts

At Hollins Metalwork & Fabrication LLC a job starts with a quotation, moves through survey and installation planning, consumes stock from the store and ends in a final invoice. Along the way it sits in a binder, on the magnet board, in the costing sheet and on timesheets that come out of the vans on Friday. Nobody can say on Monday what a live job has cost so far.

Decisions

One job, one number, from quotation to invoice
The whole route hangs off the same job number. That sounds obvious and is the actual break with the old way: previously every station had its own filing, and pulling it together was manual work at month end.
Scheduling as a calendar next to the board
Two views of the same week: the calendar for “who is where and when”, the board for “what is still unscheduled”. The magnet board in the office could only do the second — so the first was carried in somebody's head.
Hours and materials on the job, not in accounts
Both are captured where they arise and are attached to the job immediately. Only then does the overview show a running cost comparison that is right during the work rather than after it.

Deliberately left outNo drawing management and no CAD integration. Design data has its own tools, its own revision control and its own specialists; pulling it into a job book would be the start of a second project under a false name.

Five screens, in all four languages, with sidebar, header and stated role. Navigation works; tables, step chains, history, calendar and forms are rendered and inert. All job numbers and amounts are invented.

How it would go on

Time recording in the van
Hours have to be captured where the work happens — offline-capable, because a building site rarely has a signal.
Accounting
Invoices belong in the finance ledger, payments received belong back on the job. Without that return path the payment status becomes a second version of the truth.
Survey and handover
A signature on site, photographs, a snagging list. That is where a job book stops and a site app begins.
