Example site for an entirely fictional business — not a real company.

Independent garage since 1996

Not a main dealer. Your service book still gets stamped.

All makes, one hourly rate. Roadworthiness and emissions testing on site. A written estimate before any repair, courtesy car on request.

What we do

Everything except bodywork and paint. For those we work with two firms here in town.

Roadworthiness and emissions test

The inspector comes to us on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Small defects we fix on the spot, so there is no retest.

$144

Service to manufacturer schedule

Manufacturer schedule, approved oil, stamp in the service book. Your warranty stays intact.

from $189

Reading the control units

Fault memory of every control unit, not just the engine. You get the print-out, even if you have the work done elsewhere.

$39

Wheel change with storage

Change, balance, re-learn the pressure sensors. Your wheels stay with us in the hall, washed.

$49, storage $39 per season

Wheel alignment

Front and rear on the rig, with a print-out before and after. Worth it after any new suspension part.

$89

Brakes, clutch, timing belt

The big jobs. Written estimate first, then your go-ahead, then the tools come out.

on estimate

How a job runs

  1. The call

You tell us what the car is doing. We tell you when we have time. Usually within three days.

  2. Drop-off

Car on the ramp, control units read, a proper look underneath. We estimate after that, not before.

  3. Written estimate

On paper, parts and labor listed separately. Nothing gets turned without your go-ahead.

  4. Pick-up

Text message when it is done. The old parts are in the boot if you want to see them.

What customers say

Called at eight, car was standing there ready at four. Bill matched the estimate.
Mark Sutton · Drives a 2009 Passat
They told me the discs would last another season. At the dealer I would have had them replaced.
Sarah Fenwick · Customer from Williamsport
The courtesy car was there without me having to ask. For us that means no day lost.
Emre Doğan · Drylining firm, three vans

Book a slot

Online or by phone. Mention the courtesy car straight away — we only have three.

The project frame

How Awelior would approach this project

Palmer Motor Repairs is invented — the way it is built is not. None of this is work delivered for a client. It is the shape we would give such a project — with the same depth, but without a client who would have to answer for it.

Where it starts

Palmer Motor Repairs is an independent garage for all makes with roadworthiness and emissions testing on site. Its problem is not visibility but mistrust: anyone looking for an independent garage expects an invoice above the estimate and an appointment that slips. The website has to clear both away before anyone calls.

Decisions

  • Fixed prices for what can be fixed-price

Service, oil change, air conditioning, the annual test — those appear as priced packages on the services page. For repairs there is no price, only the sentence that an estimate comes first. That distinction is the real message of the business.

  • The booking flow gets a page of its own

In the other demos booking sits on the contact page. Here it is the main route and therefore stands alone — with the opening hours directly beneath, because the second question after an appointment is always about drop-off times.

  • Hard-edged archetype, high density

The same archetype as the electrical contractor, but a different motif and a different palette. That is the evidence that the archetype is a tool and not a stencil: two businesses share it and still look unrelated.

Deliberately left outNo parts shop and no price list by vehicle model. Both require a vehicle database that has to be maintained — a garage this size would be showing wrong prices within three months.

What is in it

Content blocks

Five pages, in all four languages. Navigation, expandable questions, the gallery and the four-step booking flow all respond. Indicated only: workshop photography, directions and the form's destination; the calendar slots are sample values and are labeled as such.

How it would go on

  • Appointments tied to the ramp

A time slot is only worth something once there is a ramp, a mechanic and the right duration per job behind it. That is a connection to workshop planning, not to a calendar.

  • Reminders and updates

A reminder before the appointment, a message when the car is ready, and the test due date a year later. That is the part that brings customers back.

  • Real prices and photographs

The packages have to be calculated from the actual hourly rates, and the gallery needs pictures from this workshop rather than drawings.
