Basket and checkout

A checkout that keeps two figures apart.

What gets taken today and what gets taken in November — both stand there as numbers before you order. And the button says what it has to say, deposit or no deposit.

The way through the checkout

  1. Check the basket

Per line the total price, the unit price on the wax, and on pre-orders the deposit and balance as separate figures. At the bottom: what is taken today and what is taken on the dispatch day — in dollars, not as a percentage.

  2. Size, monogram, alterations

This is where we ask twice: the size and, if you want it, three characters for the monogram. Next to it, the sentence that a monogram or an alteration ends the return. Anyone hesitating can click it away — embossing later is possible, taking it back is not.

  3. Shipping and payment

$5.90 within the US, free above $150, international $14.90. Collection at the workshop on Thursdays, with no shipping cost. Then the payment method and what it entails — on a pre-order the money is taken twice, and that is said in the row.

  4. Review and order

The last page shows it all: pieces, sizes, monogram, shipping, total price including sales tax, deposit today, balance on the dispatch day, delivery from 3 November, and the lines that cannot be returned. The button below says "Place order", with the amount charged today right beside it — on a pre-order too, because money moves today even though the goods come later.

Sample plans for the demo. None of them can be booked — the buttons deliberately lead nowhere here.

No payment method carries a surcharge. The discount for paying in full is voluntary and changes nothing else — not the return window, and not your right to cancel if we are late.

What the last page shows

The total price including sales tax, the shipping cost as its own figure, and beneath it two lines: "due today" and "due on the dispatch day". Anyone paying a deposit must have seen both numbers before pressing the button — otherwise they do not know the contract they are entering.

The delivery date as a date: from 3 November. Beside it, the sentence about canceling if we are more than two weeks late. Both appear in the summary and in the confirmation email, not only in the terms.

Per line, whether it can be returned. On the monogram and on alterations it says that it cannot, with the reason in half a sentence. Anyone who wants to drop the line can still do it here.

Once the order goes through, the confirmation email repeats the same list, adds the return policy with the return form, the date and the parts list for the piece. A second email follows in October with a photo of your length of cloth.

Questions about ordering

Why does the button say "Place order" with the total next to it?

Because the click costs money and the figure belongs beside it — items, shipping, sales tax, and the amount charged today. "Buy now" leaves the total to be discovered later. A pre-order is no different: the goods come in November, the deposit leaves your account today.

What if the run fills faster than expected?

Then the shop closes the line and marks it sold out. Anyone who has already ordered keeps their slot — the order of the queue is the time of ordering, not the size of the deposit. Everyone else goes on the waiting list.

Can I change the size after ordering?

Until cutting starts in mid-October, yes; after that, no. Send an email with the order number. If you are unsure: sample pieces hang in the workshop on Thursdays, and we will post you a tape measure and the size chart beforehand.

What if I want to pull out before dispatch?

Before cutting: an email is enough and the deposit comes back in full. After cutting it gets harder, because the piece is then yours — at that point wait for delivery and use the return window, which starts when it arrives. If we are more than two weeks late you can cancel at any time.

Do I get an invoice showing the sales tax?

Yes, two: one for the deposit and one for the balance, each with the pre-tax amount, the rate and the tax amount. Both sit in your account and arrive by email.

Delivery, returns, repairs

When we ship, what a return costs, where the return window ends, and what we do with a piece that is finished after ten years.
