How a pre-order runs
Order by 21 September
Whatever is ordered by then gets sewn. After that the run closes. There is no surcharge that gets round it — the length of cloth it would take simply does not exist.
30 % deposit
Taken when you order. It buys you a slot in the run, not an intention. The balance is collected on the dispatch day and not before.
Cutting in October
We write to tell you which length your piece is getting. Remnants are never twice the same; if you do not like yours we swap it up to the moment of cutting, and not after.
Dispatch from 3 November
If the date slips by more than two weeks, you may cancel without giving a reason and get the deposit back in full. That is not goodwill, it is in the terms — and it is the only thing that makes asking for a deposit defensible.
Prices, deposit, returns on a pre-order
All prices are total prices including sales tax. Shipping is added and appears on the piece, in the basket and in the order summary. The care wax carries a unit price per 100 g because it is sold by quantity; a bag has no meaningful unit price, and we are not going to invent one.
The deposit is 30 % of the total price and is taken when you order. The amount appears in the basket as a figure, not as a percentage for you to work out. The balance falls due on the dispatch day; where you are entitled to cancel beforehand, you get the deposit back, not a credit against the next run.
Our 30-day return applies to a pre-order exactly as it does to something off the shelf. What differs is when it starts: the day the goods reach you — so with a September order and a November delivery, in November. Anyone with cold feet in October can still pull out; we keep no part of the deposit as long as nothing has been cut.
Excluded from returns is anything made to your specification or clearly personalized: the embossed monogram, an altered strap length, a special color. The note sits on the piece before it goes into the cart and again in the order summary. If you are unsure, order without the monogram — we can always emboss it later.
Questions about the run
Why can't I reorder the rucksack?
Because the cloth has gone. We could buy something similar, but then it would be a different rucksack with the same name — and that is exactly what we do not do. The spring list is free and commits you to nothing; you get an email once the date is fixed.
What if the jacket does not fit in November?
Send it back. The 14-day period starts when it arrives, so in November. We pay the return postage even though we would not have to. With an altered sleeve length we cannot — which is why we ask twice about measurements first.
Why a deposit at all?
Because we pay for the cloth in October and deliver in November. Without a deposit we would have to finance material for forty pieces and put the prices up to match. Your right to cancel after a two-week delay is what you get in return.
Can I leave the monogram off?
Yes, and for many people that is the better choice. Without it the bag stays returnable. We can emboss later — bring the bag by or mail it in, and it costs $19 plus return postage.
Is this legal advice?
No. The page describes how we work, not what the law requires. Return policies and terms belong in front of an attorney once; the website provides the places where they appear — product page, basket, order summary, confirmation.
